Violin and bow maker Joseph Kun pioneered the shoulder rest design that has become ubiquitous with violinists and violists worldwide, and a favorite with generations of artists. Starting with ergonomic design, Joseph Kun solved the age-old dilemma of discomfort for thousands of players. The original three-point adjustment was an innovation that has stood the test of time, remaining popular to this day. Always mindful of tone, Joseph Kun made sure that the new shoulder rest would be attached with minimal contact with the instrument. To meet these ambitious demands, high quality manufacturing was essential, and remains a hallmark of the Kun brand. Today, often in direct collaboration with artists, Kun continues to innovate with new designs and aesthetics, serving violinists and violists at all levels. Kun products are manufactured in Canada.
The Kun Original fits 4/4 and 3/4 sizes and is one of our most popular shoulder rests. Height adjustable from 1 1/2 to 2 by lengthening/shortening screws, and legs pivot for pitch adjustment. The Kun Original #1313 and Kun Collapsible #1313C differ from the Kun Super #1313S in that they have four holes on each end for width adjustment. Some prefer this design due to its great width adjustability
